Previous laser vision correction

Many people who underwent PRK and LASIK laser vision correction in the past are now at an age at which they are beginning to naturally develop a cataract. Let your surgeon know if this applies to you.

Laser changes the natural curvature and optical properties of the cornea so that the methods used to predict the power of the lens implant needed and its resting position inside the eye are more complex and less accurate than for eyes that have not had laser surgery.

If you were accustomed to very sharp vision without glasses following your laser surgery, it is important to appreciate that cataract surgery may not restore your focus to quite the same level, so that you may be more reliant on glasses for clearest vision.
