Michael Greaney MD FRCSEd FRCOphth is a Consultant Eye Surgeon in Bristol, UK. He is a specialist in cataract and lens surgery, glaucoma as well as general ophthalmology.
His NHS work is at Bristol Eye Hospital and Weston General Hospital. He sees private patients from Bristol, the South West and overseas by appointment.
Private patient surgery and consultations for new and existing patients will remain up and running during the second national lockdown. Measures remain in place to prevent the SARS-Cov-2 virus entering hospitals and will continue for the foreseeable future. The need to change protective attire, for more thorough and extensive cleaning of all equipment and surfaces between patients and the longer air exchange in rooms and operating theatres dictates that fewer patients can be booked to each clinic or operating list. I currently see patients at the Bristol Nuffield Hospital only – the Waterside Suite at Weston General Hospital has not yet re-opened to private patients.
If you have concerns about your appointment or your eye condition and would like advice, or wish to enquire about arranging a consultation, treatment or surgery please contact my secretary at the Nuffield Hospital.
Patients attending for consultation or outpatient laser treatment will be admitted to the hospital five minutes before the appointed time and should be unaccompanied unless a carer or translator is required. The reception staff will enquire about having a cough or fever will be offer you alcohol gel to disinfect your hands and a fresh face mask to wear. Only a few patients are permitted to occupy the large, bright and well ventilated waiting area at any time. You should not attend the hospital if you have any symptoms of Corona Virus infection.
